R & I - What We Do
This is a very exciting and developing area of our teaching school alliance's work.
Affinity TSA members are embracing the benefits and challenges of Research and Innovation in primary education. Affinity is now a truly self-improving group of schools, and the prominence of R & I is crucial to allow us to continue to push the boundaries of outstanding practice.
Our research informs continuing professional development through rigorous investigation, reporting and dissemination of findings to help improve pedagogy for all our members. All member schools identify a research champion and activity is co-ordinated by our R & I working group. The research champion role not only provides co-ordination but is also a great opportunity for individuals CPD, supporting staff retention and leadership development initiatives.
The outcomes are shared online, in print and at showcase events.
We co-ordinate our research with our strategic partner the University of Leicester. This partnership is vital to ensure leaders have the capability and rigor needed to ensure the action research findings are useful and can effectively inform our CPD initiatives, and the University provides regular CPD opportunities for our research leaders.
Research & Innovation Leaders
Each of our member schools identifies a lead practitioner to act as their research champion within their own school, who will join our R & I network and ensure any commissioned research is co-ordinated between schools.
Examples of the research work that is conducted by TSA teachers will be shared on our Online Learning Centre.
Research & Development Network
The Affinity Teaching School Alliance is committed to improving students’ learning achievements through enhancing the quality of teachers’ professional development. Great professional development involves teachers learning collaboratively, experimentally and in contexts of classroom practice. This professional development can also be supported through sharing the findings made by this collaborative work.
